We came to France for an adventure, and a chance to work together for a change in lifestyle. We have run Appletons Farmhouse successfully for 10 years after taking 3 years to renovate the old buildings. We have been exceedingly happy with our decision to move here but now the time has come to retire and so our beautiful home and Bed and Breakfast business is for sale.
The chambre d’hôte, accommodating up to 15 guests, has been trading since January 2005 and has seen a steady increase in trade to the point where it now provides a good living with many returning and recommended guests.
Perfectly situated in the Centre of France, in the Loire Valley, near Argenton-sur-Creuse, an ideal stopover for breaking a north south or east west journey, easy access from the Auto Route, ideal for a short break or a full board holiday.
The spacious dining room, where breakfast and dinner is served, is adjacent to the lounge and kitchen for ease of service. The room is furnished with attractive cabinets for tableware and glassware storage and the table can seat up to 10 guests.
The kitchen is well equipped with a range gas cooker. The layout is designed very much in consideration to the chef for efficient meal preparation and the room is conveniently adjacent to the dining room and lounge.
The large and cosy lounge with windows overlooking the garden, has a tiled floor and a Franco Belge multi fuel wood burning stove, with 3 sofa’s and 2 single arm chairs making it a lovely relaxing seating area with an inviting atmosphere.
Via a separate entrance, the owner’s accommodation comprises of a lounge / office, kitchenette, linen room and large bedroom which all could equally well be rented separately from the B&B accommodation.
We have 5000 m2 of beautifully landscaped gardens, 1400 m2 is given over to vegetable production. 13 years ago we planted 30 new trees and hedges and have continued to improve our gardens year on year.
Delight your dinner guests with home-grown fruit and veg. We have about 100m² of our land turned over to growing vegetables, used in our dinners served to guests. There is nothing better than your own new potatoes or freshly picked beans.
During the summer months, guests can refresh themselves with a dip in the above-ground plunge pool, this is 4.5m wide by 1.20m high and is totally fenced in, a new liner, pump & skimmer was installed in 2015.
An area at the back of our garden given over to our free range chickens and ducks, many guests love collecting the eggs for their breakfast or they are used in our dinners from quiche to salads.
